The system powers the Boom Feeder by SAMSON – AUMUND Group, operating at Fertilizer Terminal Kotka Oy.
At the Port of Kotka, on Finland’s southern coast, loading operations demand reliable and precise systems capable of operating safely even under challenging environmental conditions.
For Fertilizer Terminal Kotka Oy, the goal was to ensure a continuous and controlled material flow during vessel loading.
SAMSON Mobile Shiploaders – AUMUND Group, an international leader in mobile bulk-handling solutions, selected Hydroven as the supplier of the hydraulic power unit for a new Boom Feeder installed at the Finnish terminal.
SAMSON Mobile Shiploaders are fully mobile loading systems, designed to operate on any quay and handle vessels up to Panamax class. With loading capacities of up to 2,000 tons per hour, they combine flexibility, efficiency, and environmental sustainability through a design that minimizes dust emissions and optimizes trimming operations.
For this application, Hydroven supplied a complete hydraulic power unit with electric control panel, hydraulic cylinder kit, and proportional control system to drive all main functions of the shiploader: trolley travel and slewing, boom movement and rotation, and stabilization during loading operations.
The unit features a 160-kW (4-pole) electric motor, tandem variable-displacement piston pump (280 + 280 cc/rev), and a 1,000-liter stainless-steel tank, ensuring power, energy efficiency, and reliability in a compact, integrated design.
The commissioning activities, carried out by Hydroven’s field team, completed the project through the fine-tuning of proportional valves and pump regulation, achieving smooth, synchronized motion across all machine functions.
A project that demonstrates Hydroven’s ability to deliver high-performance hydraulic solutions for the port industry, meeting the productivity, safety, and sustainability requirements of leading international ship-loading equipment manufacturers.
